Dr. Katharine (Katie) LaVacca was born and raised in New York. After completing a Bachelor of Science degree at Elon University in North Carolina in 2011, she was inducted into the Biological Honor Society (Beta Beta Beta). She earned a DVM degree from Ross University in 2016, and completed her clinical year at the Cornell University Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. LaVacca is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). While she enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, she has a special interest in both endocrinology and rehabilitation/physical therapy.

Before starting her veterinary career, Dr. LaVacca spent much of her time training horses and teaching horsemanship at a horseback riding farm and children’s camp in upstate New York. She also toured through Europe as a classical singer. In her free time, Dr. LaVacca enjoys kayaking on the Indian River in Central Florida where she keeps updated on the welfare and conservation of the manatee and river dolphin. She also enjoys taking trips to her family’s farm house in the Catskill Mountains, where she continues to enjoy horseback riding, and going on long walks with her dog Sydney.
